The idea for this podcast was formed back in 2018. While completing my graduate studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I was fortunate to host several radio shows, as well as manage station operations as the General Manager of SCAD Atlanta Radio. I fell in love with the medium and felt like the next logical step would be a podcast. I shared this idea with friend in 2019 when I discovered my friends were also considering starting a Podcast, I thought why not combine them.
On January 20, 2020, my friends and I launched our very first Podcast. But what would we call it and what would we talk about? We each loved the creative and performing arts, and my friends also had a passion for civic engagement. We decided to merge both passions and “Speak Out World: Arts, Activism & More!” (S.O.W.) was born.
The creative and performing arts can be a powerful tool for expressing our beliefs as well as advocate for others. We also believe that the arts, regardless of race, country of origin, age, or faith, can unite us.
Through S.O.W. we also seek to highlight those unsung heroes who have paved the way for others by inspiring us to make a difference in our communities.
Since January we have come a long way. The Coronavirus Pandemic almost derailed us almost as soon as we got started. But we figured out a way to adapt and keep pushing forward. I remember how excited we were when we got our first international listeners. WOW!
At S.O.W. we discuss everything from the arts to sports, history makers and shakers, innovators, and community leaders, and stories of those who would otherwise not be heard. Give us a listen, tell us what you think. If you like us, please feel free to share it with your friends and family. Let's build a community where everyone's voice matters and they have a platform to express themselves. Peace and blessings!
